The Outcomes WG aims to bring together a multidisciplinary group of experts and researchers to discuss and focus on targeted topics in order to strengthen research activity across the field.
Membership of the WG can add value to members’ own existing research programmes and provide opportunities to develop new collaborations and funding proposals to address novel ‘hot topic’ areas. There is also opportunity for linkage with supervision of multi-disciplinary PhD projects through the MRC-NIHR TMRP DTP PhD cohort.

Research areas to target

  • Evaluating the validity of potential surrogate outcomes and their relevance to core outcome sets;
  • Outcomes relevant to ‘early phase’ studies;
  • Statistical analysis plans and outcome reporting bias;
  • Widening participation in core outcome set development;
  • Digital, mobile and wearable technology for outcome data collection.

Membership

The WG welcomes members who are actively involved in outcomes methodology research, including
patient research partners, academic researchers, trialists, health professionals, postgraduate students
and industry representatives.

Collaborations

The Outcomes WG seeks to establish active multi-disciplinary collaborations with other WGs in the
Partnership, including those focused on adaptive designs, trial conduct, health economics and
statistical issues. We are also keen to offer support by sharing knowledge and providing guidance to
the trials methodology community.
